Interesting info: In certain wind conditions the steel 'blade' on the roof "whistles", residents liken the noise to a "ufo landing". The noise also affected the production of local soap opera, Coronation Street with producers having to delay outdoor filming and create extra background.

Is it true that wind tunnel testing of Manchester's Beetham tower was based on the prevailing wind (from the SW) striking the tower on one of it's narrow sides? If so, they built it wrong (ie at a 90 degree rotation) - might this explain the wind noise in certain conditions?
Wow, this is cool. I'm not sure that I like it, but still, its an amazing building and one I never knew about. I love skyscrapers but I missed this one. thanks
